Revlon Lip Butters

Hi lovelies, today I’m jumping on the Revlon Lip Butter bandwagon. I literally feel like I’ve been to every Boots and Superdrug store since they launched to try and find them. I finally found them in Boots in Canterbury and picked up three.

I went for all pink shades and chose 045 – Cotton Candy, 050 – Berry Smoothie and 010 – Raspberry Pie. 14 shades have been released in the UK which is annoying as there are 20 shades in the US! On the whole though all of the colours released over here are really pretty and it was quite difficult to chose which ones to go for!

As is typical for Revlon products the packaging has the quilted design on the plastic caps which is matched to the shade inside. The packaging is nothing too exciting but its simple and pretty enough. They also feel quite sturdy so it’s the sort of product you can just chuck in your handbag.

The lip butters are a bit of hybrid between a lipstick and a lipbalm. They are really nice to wear and are quite moisturising. They are far more pigmented then a traditional lip balm and are much nicer to apply. They all have a lightly glossy finish but are completely non sticky. When I first heard they were all named after sweet things I hoped the smell would match the name. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, they all have a vanillary lipstick smell which isn’t unpleasant at all. I found the colour was lasting on my lips around two hours which isn’t exactly long lasting but about what I was expecting,

045 – Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy is a paler shade from the range and is quite a warm toned pink. It has a yellow undertone and a tiny hint of shimmer which adds a nice sheen but isn’t translated to the lips so no glitter ball concerns! I found this to be the glossiest of the three that I picked up and I really like this as an everyday shade.

050 – Berry Smoothie

I chose Berry Smoothie as an everyday ‘My Lips But Better’ shade and that’s what is. It’s another yellow toned pink but this one is duskier and more natural. This is still quite a glossy shade. Although this is probably my favourite of the three, this one has the least longevity.

010 – Raspberry Pie

Raspberry Pie is a deeper colour, and as you can probably tell from the name is a dark pink raspberry shade. It has a blue undertone and is completely free from any shimmer. This shade is also nice and glossy and it super pigmented. This probably lasts the longest on the lips.

Swatches

(L-R) Cotton Candy, Berry Smoothie, Raspberry Pie

Revlon Lip Butters are available in stores now (if you can find them!) and are priced at £7.99 each. I have to say I think that’s a lot for what they are. However, I think Revlon probably knew they could charge what they liked due to the hype! Boots is currently having a 3 for 2 event so now’s the time to pick them up!
