Hey guys. For today’s post I want to compare a couple of lipsticks for you. As you can probably tell from the title they are ELF’s Runway Pink and MAC’s Creme Cup.
Out of these two I purchased Creme Cup first. This is quite typically a first MAC lipstick purchase but I waited quite a long time before I bought it. I’m not really sure why that was because I’ve always liked it but there were other MAC lippies that I really wanted so I never got around to buying Creme Cup until more recently. As usual for MAC this cost £13.50. It’s a cremesheen meaning it’s nice and moisturising. My favourite MAC finish is actually the amplified formula as I really like my lipsticks to be super pigmented. This is definitely sheerer but the colour payoff is still pretty good.
I bought Runway Pink pretty soon after I got Creme Cup without realising they were quite so alike! This is from the ELF studio line so cost me £3.50 meaning it’s a massive £10 cheaper then the MAC one. The finish of Runway Pink is definitely more matte then Creme Cup. It’s not as moisturising but it’s also not drying which can be a problem with cheaper lipsticks (well, it can be a problem with high end lipsticks to but there you go!).
So, the most important comparison is of course the colour so here you go!
In hindsight I probably shouldn’t have photographed these on my usual pink background as the lipsticks are pretty much the same colour so apologies for that! Anyway, as you can see Runway Pink and Creme Cup are pretty much the exact same colour! In the bullet they’re pretty much identical!
Hopefully you can see in the swatches that the ELF is more matte and the MAC has more of a shine to it. That being said, I struggled to remember which way round I’d photographed them so that says a lot. I can hardly tell the difference! With a saving of £10 I could have just purchased Runway Pink and I really wouldn’t have needed Creme Cup as well. However, I love them both and tend to find that I apply Creme Cup in the morning and then throw Runway Pink in my handbag for during the day.
If you don’t already own Creme Cup but want it I’d definitely say give Runway Pink a go first! Save yourself some money, or else buy yourself three ELF Studio lipsticks for the price of one MAC one!
